In 2026, a new hospitality and catering vocational high school

The Région financed the work on this new modern, sustainable, and secure establishment to the tune of €65 million. Its opening is scheduled for September 2026. 'We are here on a future hub of excellence in the hospitality, catering, and service sectors at the entrance to the town, right in the heart of the La Crestade eco-district.

In the région Sud and with the work of François de Canson, hospitality, catering, and tourism represent €21 billion in annual economic benefits, 13% of our GDP. It is the leading industry in the region with 150,000 jobs as a result,' said Renaud Muselier.

PLACE OF EXCELLENCE He added: 'Despite current events and uncertainties, we can be proud to live in a region that still builds and inaugurates high schools! We love the Var and we show it with the construction of the Lycée du Luc, which will open in 2028, as well as the relocation of this high school.'

For his part, François de Canson, vice-president of the Région, looked back at the genesis of the project: 'For the high school students, this will be a real renewal! A high school built of clarity, modernity, wide open spaces, digital technology, and environmental focus. They will study in a place of excellence with a very beautiful building that will allow for high-quality teaching.

This building has a very special history. In November 2019, the flooding of the Gapeau once again led to floods. I remember it as if it were yesterday, there was 1.5 meters of water in some parts of the high school!'

'With Jean-Pierre Giran, Jean-Louis Masson, and Hubert Falco, we said stop! It was the 5th time in 20 years that the high school was a victim of flooding! So, we made the decision to relocate the high school and rebuild it.

7 years later, after a pandemic, 22,000 m2 of work, and €65 million invested, what pride! This high school is an exemplary building aligned with our COP d'avance. It will also be secure with a closed site, controlled entrances, and monitored areas,' François de Canson continued.

To date, the Région is responsible for 174 public high schools, representing 3 million m2. It employs more than 4,000 regional staff who work every day to maintain the high schools. This heritage welcomes 195,000 high school students and supports them in their learning.

September 2 was also the launch for the 10 million meals served every lunchtime and for the 55,000 daily passengers of school transport!
