Security and proximity at the heart of municipal policy

In a national climate marked by debates surrounding the role and arming of municipal police forces, the Ville displays a firm and assumed position: to maintain a visible, equipped, and fully committed municipal police on the ground. Indeed, the Municipalité remains faithful to its line, which is to implement local, human, effective security adapted to the realities of the ground rather than responding to ideological discourse. 'Our responsibility is to protect the inhabitants, reject disconnected stances, and ensure a serene town where people can live, work, and raise their children in complete safety,' states Thierry Albertini, the mayor. He adds: 'Disarming the municipal police would be a serious step backward in the face of ground realities and the legitimate expectations of citizens.' Faithful to republican values, the Ville has made everyday security a constant priority. Since 2018, efforts have been numerous with the modernization of equipment, the expansion of the video protection network, the recruitment and training of officers, and the strengthening of partnerships with the police nationale, the préfecture du Var and local prevention actors.

SUSTAINED ACTIVITY

In fact, the numbers speak for themselves. Since the beginning of 2025, 510 mission sheets have been established, 1,283 daybook entries written, and 2,295 electronic fines issued, mainly for traffic violations. Among the 94 police reports, 30 resulted in transfers to the police station, including 14 for public drunkenness. These results reflect an effective and well-organized police presence in the territory. Furthermore, in June, a joint operation with the DREAL and the police nationale, focusing on heavy goods vehicles in Baudouvin, resulted in the inspection of 14 vehicles. Thus, several offenses were noted, including two misdemeanors, overloads, and two vehicle impoundments. A targeted action that demonstrates a permanent concern for road safety. 'This summer, the Ville strengthened its vigilance. It activated the "Vacances tranquilles" system, which allows Valettois to leave with peace of mind. 50 operations were carried out, representing 500 home visits. Thanks to a connected application, officers directly received the addresses to monitor, allowing for optimal responsiveness,' the first magistrate further details.

EXTENDED HOURS

He adds: 'Until September 30, the municipal police hours are extended to 3 a.m. every day. And, this autumn, these extended hours will become permanent thanks to the recruitment of three new municipal police officers. The objective is to improve the coverage of the territory, including in the evening and at night.' And, on July 2, La Valette-du-Var and Le Revestles-Eaux signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the surveillance of the massif du Coudon. Volunteers from the Réserves Communales de Sécurité Civile patrolled on both sides of the municipal borders within a regulated framework. A valuable initiative in the middle of a high-risk season. This summer again, major summer events were placed under high vigilance. Every evening gathering the public was supervised by the municipal police, with the occasional assistance of the police nationale.
