Come discover the Mediterranean pirates at the Cap Garonne mine!
This autumn, rediscover the museum's galleries and the exhibition on the Pirates of the Mediterranean!

With more than 30,000 visitors in 2024, making the museum one of the most visited sites in the department, the Cap Garonne mine welcomes you from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
And it is extending the exhibition on piracy in the Mediterranean. Just a short distance from Toulon, the former copper mines are undoubtedly the most famous deposit in Provence.

To date, 133 different minerals have been listed, including extremely rare specimens. Visiting its former copper galleries is a living lesson, an adventure for young and old alike.
PIRATES AND TREASURE With the exhibition on piracy in the Mediterranean and the legend of the Cap Garonne Treasure, pirates are taking over the galleries of the Mine!
Come and meet the potter, his treasure, and the pirate Barberousse around Cap Garonne. Experience the history of the pirates of the Mediterranean and the oceans! Visit the stranded boat in the mine and its treasure!
A luminous exhibition of artistic works, created by the ALBA association with fluorescent pirate faces, completes this visit, not to mention the new terrace facing the bay to enjoy a coffee and the new souvenir shop.
Furthermore, Christian Garnier, president of the museum, details the approach of the Esprit Parc label: “The brand is intended for products, services, and association activities located in the municipalities adhering to the Parc de Port-Cros.
These actions respect a number of the Parc's criteria, such as the enhancement and preservation of natural sites. The mine museum has long been involved in this effort, so it was only natural to formalize our membership. Especially since we are an excellent relay for the Parc's actions in terms of communication and the promotion of tourism activities close to our environment.
Our museum's tourism practice is the best suited to respecting the preservation of the site. We have an access capacity limited to 100 people in a 6,000 m² space, and we operate all year round, whatever the weather conditions, which allows us to spread out the influx of visitors throughout the year.”
