Child protection, a growing challenge

A structure funded by the Département, its mission is to welcome children aged from a few days to under four years old, temporarily placed outside their family for protection reasons. It can accommodate up to 12 toddlers in a caring and secure environment.

"Childhood is our great departmental cause and it will remain so," affirmed Jean-Louis Masson, president of the Département, during his visit on September 16 to the "Pré en bulles" nursery, located in La Valette-du-Var. Accompanied by Thierry Albertini, the mayor, and departmental councillor Caroline Depallens, Jean-Louis Masson praised "the commitment, expertise and kindness" of the teams who work daily with these particularly vulnerable children.

For the Département, child protection constitutes a growing challenge. Since 2022, the number of minors taken into care has increased sharply. Faced with this situation, 166 collective reception places have already been created and 100 additional ones will be established by the end of the year.

Thierry Albertini welcomed the establishment of the nursery in his municipality: "I am proud to welcome the Pré en bulles nursery to La Valette-du-Var, a place where toddlers entrusted to child protection find gentleness and safety." With this visit, the Département reaffirms its commitment to placing childhood at the heart of its social action, by strengthening reception structures and supporting the professionals dedicated to the youngest.
