Vintage vehicles in the spotlight at the 36th ascension of mont Faron
On the first Saturday of September, mont Faron vibrated to the sound of vintage engines.
More than a hundred vintage car and motorcycle enthusiasts gathered for the 36th edition of the historic climb, a must-attend event for lovers of rolling mechanical heritage. From the early hours of the morning, the winding road leading to the summit of Toulon's iconic mountain was taken over by racing cars, sometimes from another era (convertibles, popular or legendary sedans, and gleaming motorcycles). This year, participants and visitors could even see, at the start of the first loop, a few military vehicles parked not far from the Fort du Grand Saint-Antoine (1).
Organized by the Club des Anciennes Automobiles Varoises (CAAV), this climb is not a competition but a friendly demonstration that unites passionate owners and amazed visitors, who enjoy a spectacle that is as much visual as it is auditory. "Seeing these cars climb the Faron is a journey back in time," confided Marie, a Toulonnaise who came with her family. And Julien, a history enthusiast, added: "I come regularly to the Faron and, this year, I had the surprise of seeing several vintage military vehicles!
It was great!"
The 2025 edition also marked more than three decades of existence. The day ended in good spirits, confirming that the passion for vintage mechanics remains very much alive in the Var.

The fort du Grand Saint-Antoine, a military structure from 1845, has recently become the property of a history enthusiast. He is also a collector of vintage military vehicles. On this occasion, several volunteers from the fort's preservation association presented some of these vehicles.
