Paul Babi, Lyam El Amraoui and Gabin Valéro, three young Pradétans, members of Touch Rugby Toulon, won the French U12 championship in Vichy. An outstanding performance, achieved against the 14 best teams in the country. To mark the event, the City organized a reception in their honor on September 10. Hervé Stassinos, the mayor, and Agnès Biasutto, deputy mayor, presented each player with the medal of the City, praising their sporting achievement and commitment.

A SPORT TO DISCOVER

Team captain Paul enthusiastically shares his journey: "After a rugby injury, my parents guided me toward another sport. That is how I discovered Touch Rugby. It has the spirit of rugby but without brutal contact. It is a fast, strategic, mixed, and really fun sport!" During the ceremony, a father highlighted another dimension of this still little-known discipline: "Touch Rugby conveys very strong collective values. Even in competition, the atmosphere remains friendly and respectful." Coming from the broad family of rugby, Touch Rugby is an avoidance game without tackling or scrums. It relies on speed, agility, and cooperation. Mixed by nature, it appeals to a diverse audience, from youth to adults, and has established itself as the most practiced form of rugby in Australia and New Zealand. Today, it is experiencing a boom in Europe and could join the Olympic program in Brisbane in 2032. In Le Pradet as elsewhere, this discipline attracts people with its simplicity and inclusive spirit. With Paul, Lyam and Gabin as ambassadors, there is no doubt that Touch Rugby has a bright future ahead of it in the Var.
