A journey through time with the European Heritage Days

Between exhibitions, guided tours and cultural moments, the public was able to dive into the heart of several centuries of local history. Thus, the highlight of these days was the inauguration of the exhibition 'Reliefs d’Histoire' at the Maison du Patrimoine et des Associations. Two remarkable pieces are now presented there. The first, the 1794 relief map, long preserved in the Archives municipales, has returned to its place in the heart of the town. A true photograph of revolutionary La Valette, it meticulously restores the neighborhoods, mills, fountains and ramparts that have now disappeared. Alongside it, visitors discovered the reconstruction of the fortified town of 1492, the patient work of Jean-Benoît Albertini. This model allows visitors to plunge back into the medieval city, clustered behind its towers and gates, thus offering a valuable testimony to the origins of the town. This exhibition is intended to become a space of living memory accessible to all.

PIERRES ET LÉGENDES

In addition, Robert Durand, designer of the relief map, guided the public through his 'Pierres et Légendes' tours, while the town archivist offered flash visits around the models. Under the Micocouliers, a trade fair of yesteryear also brought traditional skills back to life. And, the place de l’Horloge was transformed into a poetic stage with a reading of texts by the poet François Fabié by Mathieu, accompanied on the cello by Esteban, a student from the Conservatoire TPM. A suspended moment, filled with gentleness and emotion. Finally, the Journées du Patrimoine also highlighted other gems such as the Jardin remarquable de Baudouvin and the Domaine d’Orvès.
