Since 2025, the Région Sud, supported by l’Etat, has launched the deployment of this ZOU ! COVOIT’ carpooling line between Toulon and Cuers, alongside numerous partners. The Région financed this project to the tune of more than €2.7 million. “This new offer thus aims to meet their expectations with simple, economical, and environmentally friendly transport solutions. As such, the service is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., including school holidays and public holidays. It operates without reservation, triggered via an app or SMS. Departure is guaranteed during peak hours (6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.),” explained Jean-Pierre Serrus, vice-president of the Région, in charge of transport and sustainable mobility. This ZOU ! COVOIT’ line connects 7 Var communes via 18 stops (Cuers, Solliès-Pont, Solliès-Toucas, La Farlède, La Garde, La Valettedu-Var, and Toulon). It allows for simple travel, without reservation, with compensation for drivers. This is the first initiative of its kind carried out in France by a Région (excluding Ile-de-France).

70,000 INHABITANTS

With 70,000 inhabitants living less than a 10-minute walk from a stop, ZOU! COVOIT' concretely facilitates daily travel. Passengers benefit from a free launch fare, before integration into the ZOU! Proximité and Pass ZOU! Études subscriptions (fare: €2.10). And drivers will receive compensation of up to €1 per passenger, with an additional amount depending on the distance traveled. The regional elected official added: “This unprecedented project was carried out in partnership with the Département, the Métropole, the Communautés de communes Méditerranée Porte des Maures and Vallée du Gapeau, as well as the cities of Cuers, Solliès-Pont, Solliès-Toucas, La Farlède, La Garde, La Valette-du-Var, and Toulon.” “With the Toulon-Cuers line, we are crossing a milestone! Never has an express carpooling line been deployed on such a scale in France. This project shows that territories can innovate together to turn cars into public transport, serving residents and the climate,” welcomed Thomas Matagne, president-founder of Ecov, when the implementation of this line was announced last June. At the same time, Renaud Muselier added: “With this first carpooling line supported by the Région, between Toulon and Cuers, we are taking a new step to improve everyone's mobility. Alongside Ecov, we are acting for more reliable, faster, safer, and more sustainable journeys. We are deploying these solutions for you, for your daily life.”
