“Philosopher au fil des saisons”, a digest of major societal issues

On September 26, in the auditorium of the media library, Philippe Granarolo was the guest of the “Rencontres Littéraires”. The philosopher presented his latest book “Philosopher au fil des saisons”, published this year by Éditions Trédaniel. This original work brings together quotes from philosophers, writers, and scientists, which are explained and commented on by the author.
Philippe Granarolo responded with great spontaneity to the pertinent questions of Delphine Bertrand, in charge of events, who asked him about his career, his philosophical choices, and the intentions behind this new book, the author's twentieth.
ACCESSIBLE APPROACH He recalled that he has always had the same conception of philosophy for over fifty years, in other words since the beginning of his career as an Hypokhâgne teacher at the lycée de Bastia. During his years in Bastia, he was entrusted with the responsibility of the local branch of the Maison de La Culture de la Corse. He then set up numerous events offering an accessible approach to philosophy.
This is what he continued to do upon his return to the Toulon area, with the Café-Philo de La Garde, which he chaired for twenty years, the cultural activities he created while he was deputy for culture of the municipality, with the beautiful “Thém'Art” encounters which brought some of the best French philosophers to La Garde, and the “Parlez-moi d'un livre” evenings, as well as the lectures he has been giving for 9 years at the UTL La Garde - Le Pradet, of which he is the creator.
Answering Delphine Bertrand's questions, Philippe Granarolo showed that major societal issues are present in “Philosopher au fil des saisons”: ecology, authority, identity, social networks, transhumanism, artificial intelligence. These are themes he addressed in this book in an attempt to shed light on the complexity of the present.
Celui-ci a rappelé qu’il a toujours eu la même conception de la philosophie depuis plus de cinquante ans, autrement dit depuis les débuts de sa carrière comme professeur d’Hypokhâgne au lycée de Bastia. Durant ses années bastiaises, on lui a confié la responsabilité de l’antenne locale de la Maison de La Culture de la Corse. Il a alors mis en place de nombreuses animations qui proposaient une approche accessible de la philosophie. C’est ce qu’il a continué à faire à son retour dans l’agglomération toulonnaise, avec le Café-Philo de La Garde qu’il a présidé durant vingt années, les animations culturelles qu’il a créées pendant qu’il était adjoint à la culture de la commune avec ces très belles rencontres « Thèm’Art » qui ont vu à La Garde quelques-uns des meilleurs philosophes français et les soirées « Parlez-moi d’un livre » ainsi que les conférences qu’il prononce depuis 9 ans au sein de l’UTL La Garde - Le Pradet dont il est le créateur. En de Delphine Bertrand, Philippe Granarolo a montré que les grands sujets de société sont présents dans « Philosopher au fil des saisons » : écologie, réseaux sociaux, transhumanisme, intelligence artificielle. Des thèmes qu’il a abordés dans ce livre pour tenter d’éclairer la complexité du présent. Enfin, le 13 octobre, le philosophe varois était également à la « Manu Factory » à Marseille, invité par le Café Littéraire « Dire Lire » à présenter et à dédicacer son dernier livre.
