The préfet du Var and the heads of State services (forces de sécurité intérieure et de secours, agence régionale de santé, directions départementales interministérielles, service départemental à la Jeunesse, à l’Engagement et aux Sports) presented the results of the controls as well as the actions deployed to ensure safety during the summer period.

BLUE POLICE

Thus, the police set up a system adapted to the tourist influx experienced by the department. It benefited from reinforcement forces including 112 personnel, 2 CRS companies positioned in the department's districts, and 11 lifeguard divers (MNS-CRS). In addition, on August 29, a significant security operation was put in place during the Franco-German summit, in which the Head of State, the German Chancellor, and 18 ministers participated. It mobilized 117 police officers from the Var, 30 external reinforcements, and 4 CRS companies, representing 402 personnel, to cover this large-scale international meeting. Finally, during the festivities, 961 security operations were carried out, including the iconic August 15 festivities in Toulon and the Jul concert in Fréjus, which brought together 30,000 people. At sea, the police carried out 215 vessel inspections and recorded 24 navigation offences. It issued 10 5th-class fines. The brigade nautique départementale de la police conducted various operations with other administrations (2 CODAF operations, 1 diving boat inspection, 1,578 checks including 724 road checks). Between July 1 and August 31, the police made 35 arrests, issued 516 fixed-rate criminal fines for narcotics, and seized 53 bladed weapons. Environmental police checks were carried out with the Parc national de Port-Cros (3 sea safety checks, 1 anchorage and fishing inspection in a restricted area, in assistance with the Office Français de la Biodiversité). It carried out 12 Police Secours missions, 28 security operations on the îles d’or de Hyères, and 7 sea rescues. In public transport, the police carried out 536 checks on 2,676 people, made 35 arrests, and issued 20 fixed-rate criminal fines for narcotics. In terms of the fight against undeclared work, 2 major operations mobilized 128 personnel, resulting in 35 people and 3 trucks checked, 6 individuals placed in administrative detention, 5 offences for employing foreigners without a residence permit, and 1 individual on the run for forgery and use of forgeries.

BLUE GENDARME

On the gendarmerie side, the gendarmerie received daily reinforcements of 35 reservists, from a marching company of the Rhône-Alpes region, manned by 50 military personnel (from July 17 to August 26). It set up 3 temporary posts, located in Les Issambres, Ramatuelle, and Les Salles-sur-Verdon, thereby strengthening the territorial coverage. It had a mounted post, located in La Londe-les-Maures, manned by 5 soldiers including two Republican Guards, which completed the surveillance system on the coastal strip and the forest massifs. Finally, it secured more than 130 major festive events (concerts, light parades, etc.).

At sea, 454 checks and 224 offences were recorded by the brigades nautiques of Les Issambres and Le Lavandou, which increased checks along the coastline and on inland waters (Lac de Sainte-Croix and Lac de Saint-Cassien). Some involving partner services (ONF, OFD, ECOGARDE...) were carried out to fight against environmental damage and irresponsible behavior. 88 patrols were carried out on DFCI tracks to raise awareness among walkers about proper practices to prevent forest fires and to penalize dangerous behavior. 322 operations to fight against delinquency spread over 64 municipalities. Finally, there is a general decrease in delinquency lake operations in the gendarmerie zone (violence against persons, a 2.3% decrease and a 15% decrease in sexual violence; an 18% decrease in robberies, and a 10.8% decrease in non-violent thefts; a 9.7% decrease in property damage, including burglaries in residential premises). The gendarmes carried out 917 checks, representing 63,887 people checked, including 46,849 vehicles. It issued 434 fixed-rate fines for narcotics and mobilized in the fight against undeclared work with 12 operations to fight against illegal work and fraud, checking more than 24 establishments. coordinated Faced with a resurgence of violent thefts in the golfe de Saint-Tropez, a force of 31 gendarmes was positioned from the start of the summer season, in particular 13 soldiers detached to the brigade de Saint-Tropez, who were added to the 115 personnel of the compagnie de gendarmerie de Gassin – Saint-Tropez. And, to reinforce the effectiveness of this system, 41 CRS were mobilized from August 12 to 17.
