More than seventy sites throughout France, including fifteen in the Sud – Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and six in Var. For the Var public, it was a great opportunity to discover facilities at the heart of our industrial and environmental heritage right on our doorstep. Drinking water production plants, wastewater treatment plants, sorting or energy recovery centers, so many sites that belong to our industrial and ecological heritage, where the expertise to protect the environment is passed down from generation to generation. These places, along with their teams, custodians of knowledge built up since the beginning of the history of water, waste and energy, are living places, which continue to innovate and work concretely to serve the sustainable development challenges of the regions: pollution prevention, protection of human health and natural resources, and the fight against climate change. And yet, they remain too little known.
