These are Dr Jonathan Chelly, intensive care physician, and Dr Manuel Dias Alves, psychiatrist. These appointments bring the number of territorial associate professors within the CHITS to three and salute the investment of these professionals and medical teams in clinical activity, research, and innovation for the benefit of patients. This approach is part of the continuity of the long-standing partnership built between the CHITS, the FSMPM, and the Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Marseille (AP-HM). Indeed, together, these institutions work to bring higher education, research, and care closer together for the benefit of patients in the territory. Already initiated in 2022 with the appointment of Professor Nadège Bourvis in child psychiatry, this dynamic is taking a major new step. The CHITS becomes the only non-university establishment in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region committed to a structured process of university integration for its medical fields. The academic integration of intensive care and psychiatry departments reflects a collective desire to guarantee patients care that combines clinical expertise and research excellence. Thus, the CHITS – which already welcomes nearly 200 interns each year – will be able to reinforce its hosting capacity and its attractiveness to future doctors, particularly in strategic specialties such as intensive care and psychiatry. Initially funded by the CHITS, these positions contribute to the deployment of an ambitious research and teaching policy, while asserting the strong territorial anchoring of the Centre Hospitalier. With these appointments, the CHITS and the FSMPM confirm their shared ambition to make the territoire varois a hub of university hospital excellence, serving patients, students, and medical innovation.
