On November 7, the establishment officially became an organ donation ambassador hospital by signing a charter of commitment with the Collectif Greffes+. The signing took place in the presence of the director of the CHITS, Yann Le Bras, Marie Georges, president of France ADOT 83, and Anne-Marie Nicolle, delegate of the association "Vaincre la Mucoviscidose". This initiative is part of a national movement aiming to promote organ donation, a vital act that saves thousands of lives each year.

With nearly 30 procurements carried out each year, the hospital coordination for organ and tissue donation of the CHITS plays an essential role. Its teams ensure the identification of potential donors, support for families, organization of procurements, training of healthcare professionals, and public awareness.

By becoming an ambassador hospital, the CHITS will strengthen information and awareness campaigns for its staff, patients, and visitors. The objective is to recall that organ donation is a gesture of solidarity, and that everyone can save lives simply by talking about it with their loved ones.

• PLEASE NOTE... A gesture of solidarity and fraternity. French law provides that "we are all donors", unless we expressed a refusal during our lifetime.

Despite the commitment of healthcare professionals, associations, and the Agence de la biomédecine, the number of transplants performed remains insufficient. Every day, two to three people die in France due to a lack of available organs. It is therefore essential to provide wide visibility to this priority public health issue so that every French citizen can share their choice regarding the donation of their organs and tissues with their loved ones after their death.

The law provides that relatives are asked about the deceased's wishes when an organ or tissue procurement is possible. Although more than 80% of French people are in favor of it, less than one in two has spoken about it, so their wishes cannot be respected.

In one third of cases, the relatives, in doubt, prefer to report an opposition and the procurement cannot take place.
