Gendarmerie cadets introduced to the role of flag-bearer
As part of their phase 2 SNU general interest mission training, the gendarmerie cadets of Var took part in an introduction to the role of flag-bearer.
This activity, supervised by the Service Réserve Jeunesse of the groupement de gendarmerie du Var, was led by training director Captain (R) Éric Moya, assisted by Major Alain Sujkowsky (R), operational reservists. It was part of the second week of immersion within the gendarmerie, focused on civic spirit, the duty of remembrance, and civic engagement.

REPUBLICAN VALUES After the guided tour of the monuments present on the esplanade, the cadets were introduced to the symbolic and demanding role of flag-bearer. Under the direction of the master of ceremonies and his team, they learned the codes, attitudes, and gestures specific to this role, before practicing flag handling on-site and positioning during a commemorative ceremony.
« This training is meant to be modest. It aims to prepare volunteer cadets for the role of flag-bearer to take their place in upcoming patriotic ceremonies and to inspire a lasting vocation for some in the veteran community », explained Christian Poivey, master of ceremonies.
The supervisors of the Service Réserve Jeunesse praised the seriousness and involvement of the young cadets, who demonstrate an attachment to the traditions and symbols of the Nation. « To be a flag-bearer is to carry a part of the history of France. It is an honor but also a responsibility that our young cadets learn to assume with pride », welcomed Adjudant Nicolas Moulin, deputy head of the Service Réserve Jeunesse of the gendarmerie du Var.
Adjudant Nicolas MOULIN, deputy head of the Service Réserve Jeunesse and recruitment, concluded: « Through this initiative and with our partners from the veteran community, the retired members of the gendarmerie, and the Souvenir Français, we are continuing our actions in support of civic training for young people, preparing them for remembrance commemorations, particularly that of November 11 ».
