La Farigouleto preserves Provençal heritage

An event that residents look forward to every year! For 60 years, the association La Farigouleto has been organizing the santon fair at the Fougau, in the heart of the old town. For a month, young and old alike discover the magical world of santons, these hand-crafted clay figurines that tell the story of Provence and its traditions.
KNOW-HOW The santons — or santoun in Provençal, meaning "little saint" — represent the Nativity but also the typical professions and characters of the region: miller, shepherd, milkmaid, etc. Each figurine reflects the know-how of local artisans and artists, who combine tradition and creativity: expressive faces, original shapes, and varied styles make each santon a unique object, perfect for decorating the house as Christmas approaches.
For the members of La Farigouleto, this 60th edition is more than just a simple event. It symbolizes their commitment to preserving and transmitting Provençal heritage.
The fair is held in the Fougau, a building restored by the association, where the festive atmosphere immediately plunges visitors into the magic of Christmas: scents of wood, resin, and cinnamon, twinkling lights, and childhood memories. During the inauguration on November 23, Hélène Arnaud-Bill, the first magistrate, praised the work of the association in front of so much beauty: "This 60th edition is an opportunity to celebrate our Provençal traditions, this heritage which is the pride of our town. The santon makers, with passion and know-how, pass on a unique art that tells the story of our villages, our jobs of yesteryear, and our culture.
