The Toulon Préparation Militaire Marine received its pennant

The ceremony of presenting the pennant to the Préparation Militaire Marine of Toulon – Officier en chef des Équipages Constant Colmay – was a moment of great solemnity. Gathered in formation, the trainees respectfully welcomed this powerful symbol, which carries the history and values of their center.

COMMITMENT AND DISCIPLINE

After the official announcement of the opening of the ceremony, the pennant was presented before the detachment. As the emblem of the PMM of Toulon OCE Constant Colmay, it embodies the commitment, discipline, and crew spirit that structure the entire training. It also reminds everyone of the Marine nationale's motto: 'Honor, Homeland, Valor, Discipline', which guides every sailor in the accomplishment of their mission

recalled Stéphane Rambaud, member of parliament for the 3rd constituency of Var, who attended the ceremony along with Hélène Arnaud-Bill, mayor of La Garde. When the head of the center entrusted the pennant to Toulon, she received it with the rigor and humility characteristic of those who agree to represent their unit. The passing of the pennant through their hands strengthened the cohesion and determination of the group, symbolizing the unity of all the trainees. Under the watchful eyes of the instructors, families, and authorities present, this ceremony recalled the importance of duty, solidarity, and high standards, which are the foundations of the Marine nationale. Concluded by a salute to the pennant and a final alignment, it left the trainees of the PMM of Toulon – Officier en chef des Équipages Constant Colmay – with a lasting memory, marking the beginning of a journey rich in learning, camaraderie, and commitment to the service of the Nation.

58 TRAINEES

This new class, made up of 58 trainees aged 16 and over, was able to experience a major symbolic moment in their training and cohesion journey, a few weeks after experiencing a five-day immersion within the Toulon naval base. After the review of the troops followed by a presentation of decorations, two PMM trainees read the biography of the Officier en chef des équipages Constant Colmay, a Compagnon de la Libération who gives his name to the center, located at the Sainte Anne life base (Toulon). The highlight of the ceremony, Vice-admiral d'escadre Christophe Lucas, maritime prefect of the Mediterranean commanding the Mediterranean maritime zone and district, then presented the pennant to the Préparation Militaire Marine of Toulon, before the speeches by civil authorities.

The Préparation Militaire Marine (PMM)

The PMM is a free training program offered by the Marine nationale, allowing young people from the age of 16 to discover the maritime environment and the fundamentals of the military profession. Delivered over about twenty Saturdays during the school year and completed by a five-day intensive period within the Toulon naval base, it offers an immersion into the missions and values of the Marine nationale. Supervised by reserve sailors, the PMM constitutes a first step toward a commitment to the service of defense, particularly in the operational reserve. There are 5 of them in Var, and more than 90 in metropolitan France and overseas.
