A day to open the doors of inclusion

Throughout the day, agents and participants formed duos — human duos above all — to share a professional daily life, discover often little-known professions and, above all, change perceptions. Born from a European initiative and well-anchored in the French landscape, DuoDay is based on a simple idea. It aims to offer people with disabilities the opportunity to integrate, for a day, a public service, a company, or an association.

For municipal teams, it was an opportunity to show the richness and diversity of their missions, but also to reaffirm their strong commitment to an accessible and inclusive public service. AT THE HEART OF PUBLIC SERVICES In the morning, the duos formed around a welcome coffee. The exchanges were sometimes timid, often spontaneous, but always marked by curiosity.

Administrative agents, mediators, technical staff, facilitators, or reception agents, everyone opened the doors of their professional universe by offering a unique immersion. Over the hours, participants discovered how decisions are made, how a department is organized, and how public policies are created and deployed daily. Far from clichés, the municipal public service thus reveals its concrete operation, its dynamism, and the importance of its missions for the inhabitants.

Beyond professional discovery, DuoDay is an essential tool for raising awareness. By sharing their expertise, agents become aware of the obstacles that people with disabilities can encounter in the working world. For their part, participants gain confidence, reference points and, sometimes, see new professional perspectives open up.

This meeting, reciprocal and human, contributed to creating a climate of mutual understanding. It recalled that inclusion does not rest solely on measures or regulations, but also — and above all — on concrete encounters, on the willingness to listen, support, and adapt.

Dès le matin, les duos se sont formés autour d’un café d’accueil. Les échanges étaient parfois timides, souvent spontanés, mais toujours empreints de curiosité. Agents administratifs, médiateurs, personnels techniques, animateurs, ou agents d'accueil, chacun a ouvert les portes de son univers professionnel en offrant une immersion unique. Au fil des heures, les participants ont découvert comment se prennent les décisions, comment s’organise un service, comment s’inventent et se déploient des politiques publiques au quotidien. Loin des clichés, la fonction publique municipale révèle alors son fonctionnement concret, son dynamisme et l’importance de ses missions pour les habitants. Au-delà de la découverte professionnelle, le DuoDay constitue un outil essentiel de sensibilisation. En partageant leur savoir-faire, les agents prennent conscience des obstacles que peuvent rencontrer les personnes en situation de handicap dans le monde du travail. De leur côté, les participants gagnent en confiance, en repères et, parfois, voient s’ouvrir de nouvelles perspectives professionnelles. Cette rencontre, réciproque et humaine, a contribué à créer un climat de compréhension mutuelle. Elle a rappelé que l’inclusion ne repose pas uniquement sur des dispositifs ou des réglementations, mais aussi — et surtout — sur des rencontres concrètes, sur la volonté d’écouter, d’accompagner et de s’adapter.

POSITIVE DYNAMIC By taking part in this 8th edition, municipal agents demonstrated their desire to promote a culture of sharing and diversity. Their participation valued civic engagement, strengthened cohesion between departments, and affirmed the importance of building a professional environment open to all.

In general opinion, this edition of DuoDay will remain a memorable experience. The smiles exchanged, the improvised discussions, and the shared discoveries fueled a positive and encouraging dynamic. Beyond the day itself, many hope that these one-day duos will become, for some, the first steps toward sustainable professional integration.

Because DuoDay is not just a symbolic event. Indeed, it is an accelerator of opportunities, a tool for cultural transformation, and a powerful lever for building a more inclusive society.
