The MRI Linac Unity accelerator, a cutting-edge technology
Recently, the Centre de Radiothérapie Saint-Louis of the Croix-Rouge acquired a system of unparalleled precision with the MRI Linac Unity accelerator.

A date that marks an important milestone for this centre with the arrival of this cutting-edge technology, which will offer more efficient care for radiotherapy patients and confirms its place among the most innovative French centres. It was in the renovated premises of the Centre that the staff gathered alongside the president of the Croix-Rouge française, Dr Caroline Cross.
UNIQUE CENTRE IN VAR

“It is an immense source of pride for the Croix-Rouge française to celebrate the Centre de radiothérapie Saint-Louis. A healthcare establishment whose history is part of that of the department, as it is the only cancer treatment centre by radiotherapy in Var, but also one of the most recognized in France. With the acquisition of a revolutionary technology, the Centre de radiothérapie Saint-Louis joins the circle of those equipped with it in France. It positions itself as a key player in oncology innovation and demonstrates its commitment to cutting-edge medicine at the service of patients,” declared Dr Caroline Cross. Located in the heart of Toulon, the Centre de Radiothérapie Saint-Louis, under the direction of Gwennaël Moan, stands out as one of the most efficient at the national level thanks to innovative and humane care for cancer patients. Every year, more than 2,100 patients are treated there, in an environment combining medical expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and personalized support. The centre collaborates with public hospitals and private clinics in the territory to guarantee exemplary continuity and quality of care. This revolutionary technology, which combines high-precision MRI imaging in real time with adaptive radiotherapy, allows targeting the tumor with extreme precision, while further sparing healthy tissues. The Unity is used to treat complex cancers, notably those of the pancreas, liver, prostate, or lung, and offers patients personalized and better-tolerated treatments.
On December 11, 2025, the Centre de radiothérapie Saint-Louis of the Croix-Rouge celebrated its 20th anniversary. Created at the initiative of Simone Long, then president of the Croix-Rouge committee of Var, it has been located since 2004 at 150 rue Nicolas Appert. Since its creation, the centre has integrated the best medical practices and offered equitable access to radiotherapy treatments. Over the past two decades, it has regularly integrated new equipment and developed a multidisciplinary team recognized for its professionalism and humanity.
