A major regional cause

Indeed, with its Action Plan, the Région Sud is making the prevention of and fight against school bullying a major priority. “Offering every high school student the opportunity to study in a healthy and peaceful environment means giving them the keys to success. That is why we are taking concrete action to combat bullying. By raising awareness among students, their families, and the entire educational community, we are giving everyone the power to be active participants in the prevention of and fight against this scourge,” declared Renaud Muselier, President of the Région. Concretely, the plan has an annual budget of €1 million and is structured around 3 main areas. As such, it aims to foster the involvement of the educational community in the fight against bullying. To this end, the Région is setting up awareness workshops on bullying situations for the 178 educational mediators of the Garde Régionales des lycées and the 4,000 regional staff spread across the 174 public high schools and the 3 CREPS sites. Next, it will implement prevention initiatives for high school students. This includes, for example, the mobilization of the Parlement Régional de la Jeunesse, which will participate in drafting a charter included in school correspondence books and in creating an escape game with the association G-addiction. The Région also wants to increase the involvement of non-profit organizations. Within this framework, it is setting up various educational projects addressing different forms of bullying, with awareness workshops, verbal response and self-defense modules, as well as youth suicide prevention initiatives. Next, the executive will implement a digital platform on Atrium, offering a program of actions for high school students and their parents, school heads, and teaching staff. The Région's actions also aim to encourage high school students to commit to the fight against bullying in schools, with the launch of a regional competition: the “Pour en finir avec le harcèlement en milieu scolaire” Prize, and the training of high school bullying ambassadors, with 240 ambassadors from 18 high schools. Thus, a call for projects for “safe zones” in high schools—spaces for listening to and welcoming victims—has been launched, and “Santé mentale et anxiété des lycéens” workshops will be led by the association Plus Fort, trialed during the 2025/2026 school year in 18 regional establishments.
