These 5 years that transformed the musée de la Mine into a success!

Between 2020 and 2025, the site multiplied its projects, welcomed more visitors, and strengthened its cultural role at the heart of the Métropole TPM. A very positive outcome, presented last December 5, by the president of the museum, Christian Garnier, in the presence of elected officials from the municipalities of La Garde, Le Pradet, and Carqueiranne. Thanks to the commitment of the intercommunal syndicate and its partners, the museum has established itself as a major cultural venue, welcoming, educational, and future-oriented.

A fine example of showcasing local heritage, but also a collective success that opens up very bright prospects for the years to come.

These 5 years were marked by growing public interest, as attendance multiplied two and a half times in just five years. This progress confirms the museum's appeal to families, heritage enthusiasts, and the curious who come to discover the mining history of the Cap Garonne massif.

NUMEROUS DEVELOPMENTS Visitors were able to discover many developments, such as the expansion of the reception area, the creation of a canteen and outdoor terraces, as well as the opening of a second entrance. The shop has been redesigned to offer a clearer and more pleasant experience. These investments were accompanied by the renovation of the forecourt, new wooden installations, and significant site security operations.

The museum has also diversified its cultural offering. After dinosaurs or pirates, new temporary exhibitions have emerged, in collaboration with specialists and prestigious partners like the musée Aix-Marseille. Thus, the lectures on paleontology met with great success, as did the "Les Rendez-vous de la Mine" program combining concerts and shows.

Several projects have enriched the educational dimension of the museum with the creation of a geological area for middle and high school students, the transformation of exhibition rooms, a new scientific trail... A way to strengthen the mission of transmission which is part of the site's DNA.

Finally, the use of an electric shuttle to access the site is part of a more environmentally friendly approach.

At the same time, a major investment program was launched in 2025, with the development of a new area including an adventure course and the forecourt of the Maison de la Mine.
