Naval Group to recruit 1,500 people in Var
Naval Group confirms the recruitment of 1,500 employees in Var within five years (2030) to support its defense and maintenance activities.
The French industrialist Naval Group is preparing to massively reinforce its workforce in the south of France. The company told AFP on Friday that it plans to recruit 1,500 people in Var within five years. This announcement follows the visit, the day before, of the Minister of Labor Jean-Pierre Farandou to the Ollioules site, who came to assure this strategic sector of state support.
DEPLOYMENT
"In order to support the development of its various activities in Var, Naval Group will carry out around 1,500 recruitments," the industrial group explained. These new jobs will be distributed across the Ollioules, Toulon, and Saint-Tropez sites, as well as the future La Londe-les-Maures site, which is scheduled to open by 2027. The missions entrusted to these future employees will cover a broad technological spectrum: the in-service support of surface vessels and submarines, the design of onboard and combat mission systems, as well as the production of drones and underwater weapons.
10,000 JOBS
During his visit on Friday morning, Jean-Pierre Farandou put these recruitments into a broader perspective. The Minister mentioned the creation of 10,000 jobs within the "defense industries hub in Var" by 2030. "We must help companies, particularly Naval Group, find the resources and skills they need," he stressed, pointing to a "rapid and massive development" for this vital sector.
TRAINING CHALLENGE
To achieve these objectives, the Minister insisted on the importance of involving schools and universities to strengthen "the entire training system." He designated France Travail as the "armed wing" responsible for coordinating efforts between businesses and state services. This industrial acceleration responds directly to the requirements of the executive. During his New Year's address to the armed forces, President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron reiterated his call to defense industrialists to produce "faster and stronger" to meet growing demand and rising military budgets in Europe.
