When art serves solidarity

A cultural and committed evening, where art serves solidarity. The musical theater company « La Citrouille » presents « L'Énéide », a free and contemporary adaptation of the work of Virgile, directed by Denis Guénoun. The show brings together 9 actor-singer-musicians and blends theatrical acting, music, and polyphonic singing, the company's trademark.

Inspired by the first six books of L'Énéide, the play retraces the journey of Énée, from the fall of Troie to his descent into the Underworld, through exile, wanderings at sea, and the tragedy of Didon. The staging powerfully evokes the world of exile and migration through the image of a vast sea and overloaded ships, echoing universal and timeless themes: survival, loss, hope, and the quest for a promised land.

Created in 1997 on the initiative of Michel Valette, the association was born from strong bonds forged with the municipality of Réo, in Burkina Faso. Its action has been structured around education: sending equipment, creating a library, school sponsorship, and then building the Centre UPPR, located in the heart of the town on land donated by the municipality in 2009. Today, nearly 300 children are sponsored each year, testifying to the lasting impact of this solidarity initiative.
