On the Route du Mimosa...
An odyssey of gold and light between Var and Côte d'Azur.

On January 8, the Mimosa season was officially inaugurated at the Maison du Lac de Saint-Cassien. A launch placed under the sign of the union between Var and Alpes-Maritimes to celebrate an industry of excellence, a harvest announced as exceptional, and a tourist itinerary unique in its kind. It is in the heart of Pays de Fayence, in Tanneron, that the Agence de Développement Touristique (ADT) Var Tourisme, Côte d'Azur France Tourisme, and the Route du Mimosa association gathered partners and mimosa growers to kick off the 2026 season.
In a context of transition, this meeting allowed the highlights of this legendary route to be revealed while addressing the challenges of this iconic culture. 130 KM OF HAPPINESS Connecting Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse, the Route du Mimosa stretches over 130 kilometers through Var and Alpes-Maritimes. This itinerary crosses eight must-see stops, offering visitors a sensory experience blending winter light, the scent of flowers, and exceptional Mediterranean panoramas between the Maures, Estérel, and Tanneron massifs.

For the two departments, this route is much more than a simple attraction. It is a vital economic engine for the winter season. Alexandra Borchio Fontimp, delegated president of Côte d'Azur France Tourisme, emphasizes that this itinerary "contributes to the influence of our department of Alpes-Maritimes beyond our borders" and generates "concrete economic benefits for accommodation, dining, and shops."
On the Var side, the president of Var Tourisme insists on the off-season strategy: "The Route du Mimosa illustrates the strategy [...] supported by the Département du Var: to offer, in the heart of winter, an attractive tourist option."
PROMISING 2026 HARVEST The great news from this launch concerns the quality of the production. Michel Lovera, president of the Syndicat des exploitants agricoles du Tanneron, confirms: "The 2026 harvest promises to be of very high quality, significantly superior to last year."
This year also marks a major step in structuring the industry with the presentation of the brand "Tanneron, Terre de Mimosa". Supported by the agricultural union, it aims to guarantee the origin of the productions and to promote local derived products, with the future ambition of bringing mimosa and eucalyptus to the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.
