Karine Hamela praises the commitment of the 516 faces of the Renée Sabran hospital
The director of the Renée Sabran hospital put people at the heart of priorities, celebrating the dedication of its 516 professionals.
The Renée Sabran hospital recently gathered its vital forces for the traditional 2026 New Year's wishes ceremony. Under the leadership of Karine Hamela, this event was much more than an administrative formality: it was transformed into a genuine 'beneficial break', allowing caregivers and administrative staff to recharge. In her opening speech, Karine Hamela expressed her deep gratitude to all of the employees.
After years that were often trying for the hospital sector, the director emphasized the human dimension: "I note the importance of everyone's presence in building the healthcare of tomorrow". Beyond that, a message of gratitude for the collective work accomplished resonated in the room, illustrated by testimonials highlighting the faces of those who bring life to the institution every day.
MODERNIZED WORKING CONDITIONS The hospital's human capital is doing well and growing stronger. Doctor David Plantier, president of the Commission Médicale d'Établissement Locale, revealed reassuring figures on the structure's demographics: « We have 516 professionals, which represents a slight increase compared to last year. In addition to its 246 beds and day-hospital places, the establishment confirms its major role in training future caregivers, backed by its university label linked to the Hospices Civils de Lyon.
In 2025, Renée Sabran thus welcomed 189 non-medical students on internships, 13 residents, and 59 medical students. An essential transmission of knowledge to ensure the next generation and maintain healthcare excellence in the Hyères territory".
Every day, we do everything we can to reinvent the hospital. If people are at the center, the work tool must follow. Karine Hamela also recalled: "The extensive hospital renovation project, spread over ten years, has the primary objective of offering the best in terms of working conditions and care provided to patients.
The year 2025 saw the culmination of a key stage with the opening of the Kermes rehabilitation technical platform". This modernization offers the teams equipment that is unique in France, confirmed Doctor David Plantier: « We introduced the famous Zéro G, a unique device in France that allows gait training and body-weight support work. Added to this is the arrival of a second surgical robot, making it possible to cross the milestone of the thousandth robotic prosthesis implantation.
These investments reflect the establishment's desire to be an agile, robust, and pioneering CHU ».
BOLDNESS AND PROJECTS The sustained activity of the past year, with nearly 60,376 hospital days and over 13,271 consultations, is not expected to weaken. For 2026, Karine Hamela calls on her teams to show 'boldness and creativity' to meet new challenges.
