Now vegetated with olive trees and featuring a new layout, it offers a safer, more aesthetic setting that is better adapted to climate challenges. Before the summer of 2025, the Ville was alerted by local residents about the condition of the former place des Pins. Once pleasant, this public space no longer met current uses or environmental constraints.

The pine trees, which had become too large and too close to homes, exerted constant pressure on fences, cracked some walls, and deformed the roadway. The accumulation of needles on the ground also represented a real fire hazard, in an increasingly demanding climate context. The concrete slab surfacing, which was heavily degraded, no longer guaranteed comfort or safety.

As for the central fountain, it was out of service, deprived of its landscaping and friendly role.

In response to this situation, the Municipalité undertook a redevelopment of the square.

The mayor, Thierry Albertini, explains: "The choice naturally fell on olive trees, emblematic trees of the Mediterranean landscape, better suited to the urban environment and the local climate." Around the olive trees, Mediterranean vegetation was planted to bring color, diversity, and ecological interest, while encouraging the presence of small wildlife and pollinators.

The ground was redesigned with a stabilized surface, which is more permeable and more harmonious with the purpose of this living space. The fountain has regained its water and central position, bringing freshness and sound, while the pathways have been made safer thanks to the resurfacing of the paved surroundings.

Today renamed place des Oliviers, it offers a more serene and sustainable setting. This transformation illustrates the municipality's desire to reconcile residents' expectations, landscape quality, safety, and adaptation to environmental challenges, in a public space that has once again become lively and shared.
