Aristide Briand square, an environmentally friendly space

Located on a plot of about 650 m2, this square was designed as a place for relaxation, meetings, and activities for children, families, and local residents. “We wanted a versatile, functional, and welcoming space. Whether coming with a class or with family, Square Aristide Briand must be a meeting place and a source of well-being for all,” the Municipality explained. Located just steps from the recently renovated schools, the square will be directly accessible from the school thanks to a secure opening equipped with a gate. This connection will allow teachers and educators to organize educational activities and outdoor relaxation times there, in a green and secure setting. “We want this square to become a true extension of the school into the city. Children will be able to learn, play, and relax in complete safety, and families will have a pleasant place to meet,” the City adds.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICES

The layout of the square incorporates sustainable and responsible choices. The materials used, particularly wood for games and structures, combine natural aesthetics and solidity. Trees will be planted to create shaded areas, offering optimal comfort even on hot days and helping to limit the effects of urban heat islands. “Faced with climate challenges, we wanted to create a cool and green space. Every tree planted, every material chosen contributes to a more sustainable environment for our children and residents,” the City further specifies. Despite its modest size, the square will offer multiple uses, as it will include a wooden play area, promoting children's imagination and motor skills, and a small green theater, ideal for reading times, storytelling, or outdoor educational activities. It will also feature various seating options for families, chaperones, and residents wishing to enjoy a quiet moment or observe life in the garden. •
