Tribute and Republican Continuity for Julien Argento
Elected mayor of La Valette-du-Var, Julien Argento has placed his mandate under the sign of unity.
A new page is turning for the municipality. On Saturday, March 28, Julien Argento took office as mayor during the installation city council meeting. In a speech filled with emotion, the new mayor thanked voters for their trust, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with it for the new municipal team.
“It is with profound emotion, great pride, and a sense of responsibility that I take office today as mayor of La Valette-du-Var,” declared the new mayor at the opening of his speech. He recalled his personal attachment to the town where he grew up “as a man, as a father, as a business owner.”
Affirming his desire to “give back to the town what it gave to me,” he stressed that the trust placed by the residents “obligates us. It commits us to act with rigor, transparency, and determination in the service of the general interest.” He also paid tribute to all the candidates who participated in the election, seeing it as a sign of a “vibrant local democracy.”
In a spirit of republican continuity, Julien Argento paid a warm tribute to his predecessors: “I salute the commitment of my predecessor, Thierry Albertini, who dedicated nearly 37 years to the service of La Valette-du-Var.” He also had words filled with “particular emotion” for Christiane Hummel, honorary mayor present at the ceremony, recalling that she “left her mark on this town with her dedication” and that her action remains “a reference for many of us.”
THE PRIORITIES The new mayor then outlined the main areas of his future policy, which he wishes to conduct in a “spirit of unity.” Among the challenges to be met, he mentioned supporting local development, preserving the living environment, strengthening security, concretely improving the daily lives of residents, and ensuring responsible financial management.
“I want a city where life is good, a city that shines, where people feel safe, and where everyone finds their place,” he said, promising to be “a mayor accessible to everyone.”
Finally, he addressed a message to the municipal staff he met during the week. Calling them the “backbone of our community,” he assured them he could count on their commitment, just as they could count on his.
Addressing all members of the Municipal Council, he recalled their “collective responsibility” to be “up to the expectations of the Valettois.” He expressed the hope that debates would be guided “by respect, listening, and the desire to move forward, together.”
Concluding his speech, he pledged to be “the mayor of everyone. Without distinction.
With a single compass: the general interest, inviting the assembly to turn a new page, starting now, for the ‘happy valley’.
