Philippe Granarolo on France-Culture to talk about Nietzsche
A philosopher by training and prep class teacher for many years, Philippe Granarolo was deputy mayor in charge of culture in...

Everyone knows that Philippe Granarolo is one of the great specialists of this philosopher, to whom he has devoted nine books. Thus, on March 16, he was the guest on the show “Avec philosophie” on France-Culture. He shared the set with director Ivan Butel, who had filmed him in Nice for his film “Le philosophe qui rêvait d’une île”, broadcast on FR3 Corse in December 2025, and with the young philosopher Typhaine Morille, a specialist of Nietzsche like him. This was the first of four broadcasts dedicated to Nietzsche's travels in Italie. During this first broadcast, Philippe Granarolo was interviewed by Géraldine Muhlmann, a philosopher by training who brilliantly hosts the show “Avec philosophie”, about the six months the philosopher spent in Sorrente during the winter of 1876-1877. These months spent in Sorrente constituted the longest and most significant of his travels in Italie. It was in Sorrente that he wrote “Humain, trop humain”, a book that specialists consider a turning point in the Nietzschean work. We learn a lot about Nietzsche by listening to this broadcast, which does honor to France-Culture. An agrégé in philosophy and Doctor of State in Literature, Philippe Granarolo taught philosophy in preparatory classes in Bastia before continuing his career in a khâgne class in Toulon. A member of the Académie du Var, he is a renowned speaker who lectures throughout France, both about his favorite philosophers (Nietzsche and Spinoza in particular) and on major societal issues. He regularly posts original videos and recordings of his main lectures online on his YouTube channel @PGranarolo. He is the author of around twenty books and more than one hundred and thirty articles published in France and abroad. •
