Writer-investigator, Emmanuel Giampino explores the boundaries of literature

Originally from Var, born in Hyères and having grown up in Solliès-Pont, Emmanuel Giampino studied History in Aix-en-Provence before joining the Police nationale. Passionate about writing from a very young age, he has always nurtured a deep love for reading, drawing inspiration from great classics such as Maupassant, Zola, and Victor Hugo. Although he never imagined being published, he discovered the pleasure of writing and sharing his stories with a growing audience.

He says: "My literary journey began with poems and short stories, but it was thanks to my wife that I sent my first manuscript, 'Mnesik', to a publishing house, thus marking the beginning of my career as an author." With six novels published by "Les Presses du Midi" and his latest work, "Mea Culpa", released on April 2 by "Des livres et du Rêve", the author captivates his readers by exploring different genres, from detective novels to thrillers, including historical fiction and fantasy. "For example, in 'Mea Culpa', I abandon the historical context to focus on a pure detective story, while always maintaining a certain creative freedom," the author explains.

Writing is a real outlet for him, allowing him to expel the sometimes dark images that his job as an investigator can evoke: "Writing is a method to find serenity," he confides. His passion for history shines through in his works, and he has often sought to make History accessible to those who are resistant to it. However, with stories such as "Les légendes d'Alba" and "L'infini voyage", he explores Scottish legends and fantasy tales, reflecting his attraction to the Celtic world.

In short, the writer, who does not set a writing pace for himself, prioritizes pleasure over work. "Always armed with a notebook and a pen, I gather my inspiration wherever I am. My novels, often set in Northern Europe, such as Islande, Écosse, and Norvège, bear a unique footprint, blending reality and legend."

With an evolving style and varied themes, Emmanuel Giampino appeals to an increasingly wider audience, proving that passion and creativity can transcend the boundaries of literary genres.
