Stéphane Rambaud supports residents affected by severe weather

The interministerial decree recognizing the state of natural disaster for the municipalities of Carqueiranne, La Crau, La Garde, Hyères and Le Pradet has been published, paving the way for compensation procedures.

Stéphane Rambaud, MP for the 3rd constituency of Var, stressed the crucial importance of this official recognition to allow a return to normalcy: "It allows victims to begin their compensation claims with their insurance companies. I will be particularly vigilant to ensure that these procedures are simple, fast, and fair, because too many families are still faced with excessive delays or misunderstandings."

"Faced with the repetition of these weather events in our department, it is essential to strengthen our collective action. I will remain mobilized, alongside local elected officials and State services, to ensure that our territory benefits from the necessary means for its reconstruction and sustainable protection."

COMPENSATION Without this recognition, standard insurance policies generally do not cover damage linked to this type of exceptional weather phenomenon. "The recognition of the state of natural disaster allows victims to quickly initiate their compensation procedures with their insurance companies. This is therefore decisive news for individuals, businesses, and farmers whose property was damaged or destroyed by rising waters and mudslides," added the MP.

"Beyond the current crisis management, this weather event raises the question of adapting the territory to future risks. The recurrence of these violent episodes requires a fundamental reflection on urban planning policies, waterway management, and prevention systems. Faced with the repetition of these weather events in our department, it is essential to strengthen our collective action," he stated.

A commitment is made for this disaster to serve as a lesson and accelerate the implementation of sustainable protections. Long-term work is therefore beginning to better anticipate and limit the impact of future severe weather in a particularly exposed region.
