The Toulon Forever Instagram competition celebrates its 10th anniversary
For its 10th anniversary, the Toulon Forever Instagram contest invites photographers to capture the city until May 31.
This event, which has established itself as an essential gathering for image lovers, will conclude with a major summer exhibition and the presentation of seven distinct awards. To mark this decade, the organization has defined four categories designed to guide the participants' inspiration. The "My Favorite Place" category invites a personal and intimate approach to the city. "Seaside" honors the Toulon harbor, its beaches, and its Mediterranean horizon. The "Architecture and Heritage" section proposes to sublimate the built treasures of Toulon, from Haussmannian facades to iconic monuments. Finally, the "Black and White" category offers a field of expression focused on contrasts, shapes, and timelessness. For this anniversary edition, there is a return to basics with the requirement of a square format for all submitted photos, a nod to the early days of the Instagram platform.
MAJOR EXHIBITION
The works selected by the jury will be showcased during a major exhibition at the mairie d'Honneur from July 17 to September 4. At the end of the opening, seven awards will be presented: a prize for each category, the Instagrammers' prize (awarded by the online community), the jury's favorite, and a special prize for the 10th anniversary. The exhibition will also be the opportunity for a unique retrospective, presenting the award-winning photos of the 65 winners of the nine previous editions (the competition having been canceled in 2020 due to the health crisis). The public will be invited to actively participate in this anniversary by voting to elect "THE photo of the 10 years" from among these striking works. Since its creation in 2016, the Toulon Forever competition has generated the publication of nearly 31,000 photographs, testifying to its success and the photographers' attachment to the city. •
