Christian Candelier exalts the aesthetics of the female body

PLEASE NOTE... His calling was revealed during an encounter with a female sculptor, who, at an exhibition, encouraged the public to feel the emotions that clay can convey. This experience led to a revelation for him: modeling from a live model.

“It was an exhilarating discovery that allowed me to bring my emotions and inspirations to life through unique works centered on femininity. Thanks to many workshops and courses, I acquired the necessary technique to commit myself to this path,” says the artist.

Since then, he has participated in more than 90 solo and group exhibitions, selling his patinated terracotta and bronze creations both in France and internationally. He continues: “The beauty of natural curves, particularly those of the female body, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me, much like masters such as Rodin or Camille Claudel. I am also fascinated by the gnarled curves of grapevines and I like to establish a link between the life of female bodies and the sap of nature, even imagining a mimicry between these two elements.”

ELEGANCE His artistic approach is based on a desire to exalt the body's aesthetics, adding a touch of eroticism to a figurative representation that he sometimes strives to simplify. He enjoys inviting viewers to let their imagination run wild, whether through a hand placed on a shoulder or a destructured silhouette.

Detailing his work, he explains: “I shape the clay to give birth to series of original bronze works, some of which are created from wax models. My bronzes are cast by the Barthelemy foundry in Crest, renowned for its art casting expertise and for having cast the new liturgical furniture of Notre-Dame de Paris. Each of my creations is guided by this concept, aiming to amaze the viewer with feminine elegance, notably through capelines, as well as through the grace and movement of silhouettes off-balance.”
