“A fundamental act of solidarity”
During the 36th regional blood donors congress, Var MP Stéphane Rambaud paid tribute to their commitment.
Before the members of the Comité Régional des Donneurs de Sang Bénévoles of the Sud region, gathered for their 36th congress, Stéphane Rambaud, deputy for the 3rd constituency of Var, praised a civic commitment that he described as essential and strategic for the nation, recalling the immense scope of this altruistic gesture. In a speech filled with gratitude, the elected official highlighted the human value of blood donation, presenting it as a bulwark against turning inward: "In our society where everything sometimes seems to go too fast, where individualism can gain ground, you recall an essential truth: solidarity is not an abstract word. It is lived concretely, humanly, generously." For Stéphane Rambaud, this action embodies the fundamental values of the République: volunteering, altruism, sharing, and fraternity. He insisted on the direct impact of each donation: "Behind every donation, there is a life saved, a treatment made possible, an operation performed, a family reassured."
STRATEGIC STAKE
Beyond the symbolic dimension, the deputy recalled the vital and constant need for blood products for the French healthcare system: "The needs for blood products remain constant and reserves must be regularly renewed. Accident victims, patients undergoing treatment for serious illnesses, people undergoing surgical procedures, or women facing difficult childbirths: every day, thousands of people depend on this chain of solidarity. This is why he stated without detour that this mission is essential and even strategic for our country." This indispensable work is carried out in close collaboration with the Établissement Français du Sang, whose role he praised, as well as that of all mobilized healthcare staff. Looking to the future, Stéphane Rambaud made a special appeal to the younger generations, identified as the essential link for the sustainability of this mobilization: "We need them to continue this great chain of solidarity. It is essential to transmit this culture of giving, volunteering, and community involvement." This appeal is accompanied by a strong tribute to the thousands of volunteers who run local associations. He thanked all the volunteers who often work in the shadows, with efficiency and humility, for their work in raising awareness, organizing collections, and building donor loyalty. In his capacity as deputy, he assured the assembly of his support: "Blood donor associations play an irreplaceable role in the social bond and in the vitality of our territories. You can count on my attention and my commitment to defend the values you carry," thus reaffirming the national representation's recognition of these citizens who, by a simple gesture, choose to reach out to the stranger and trust in national solidarity.
