This is a first in the department. On Saturday, June 13, the place de la République will host the Nuit du handicap, a national event adapted locally on the initiative of PARIH 83 (Pôle d'Appui et de Ressources pour l'Inclusion Handicap du Var), in partnership with the Municipalité. Free and open to all, this evening aims to be a time for meeting and sharing.

The ambition is to change perspectives on disability by highlighting the talents and skills of the people concerned.

INCLUSION For this first Var edition, the organizers chose an original angle: gastronomy. 'Breaking down barriers through taste' is the common thread of the evening. Around the table, differences fade away to make room for exchange, conviviality, and discovery.

The event aims to bring the public together, showcase the professional skills of people with disabilities, and overcome prejudices. A strong message: competence has no disability.

Among the highlights is the meeting between two recognized chefs: Arnaud Tabarec, a starred chef in the Guide Michelin, and Grégory Cuilleron, revealed by the show Top Chef in 2010. The former, sensitive to human projects, is committed alongside PARIH 83 to support this initiative and put his expertise at the service of inclusion. The latter, born with agenesis of the left forearm, embodies an inspiring journey.

Having become an iconic figure of French cuisine, he defends the idea that disability is in no way a barrier to success. With their collaboration, the two chefs illustrate the spirit of the evening: cooking as a space of diversity, where meeting becomes a celebration.

Beyond the entertainment, the Nuit du handicap stands out for its inclusive organization. People with disabilities will not just be spectators, but active participants in the event. Engaged as volunteers, alongside young people in Service civique and professional partners, they will contribute to the success of the evening.

An approach that breaks with traditional patterns and reinforces the authenticity of the encounter. With this initiative, the organizers offer a festive event accessible to all, raising public awareness about disability issues and encouraging cooperation between institutions, associations, and residents.
