In Toulon, tribute ceremony at the Monument aux Morts

It commemorates the anniversary of the first meeting of the Conseil National de la Résistance (CNR), which was held secretly on May 27, 1943, in Paris, under the presidency of Jean Moulin, delegate of général de Gaulle. This historic event marked a decisive turning point by unifying the different internal resistance movements, political parties, and trade unions of occupied France. Established by the law of July 19, 2013, this day aimed to pay tribute to the women and men who, through their courage and sacrifices, fought against the Nazi occupier and the Vichy regime, and laid the foundations for the social and political program of post-war France.
