“The Forgotten Mine, at the Heart of the Past”!
The new team of the musée de la Mine de Cap Garonne, elected last March, offers an immersive adventure called 'The Forgotten Mine, at the Heart of the Past'!
This experience invites visitors to discover the fascinating world of former miners through a brand new underground route. Far from a simple guided tour, this exploration plunges the public into a preserved and authentic part of the mine. Equipped with a headlamp, participants move through the dark galleries and experience a realistic immersion, close to the conditions of the past.
For Christian Garnier, president of the museum, this activity promises “an original and memorable exploration”. MINING WORK This route makes it possible to travel over a kilometer of underground galleries. Visitors discover the spaces excavated by the miners as well as the methods used in the 20th century to extract copper.
Throughout the tour, guides accompany the groups to explain mining techniques, work organization, and the processes used to locate veins. Between historical discovery, sensations, and exploration, this visit offers a lively and immersive approach to mining heritage.
The tour leads to the center of the mine, where visitors reach the museum to extend the experience and learn more about this exceptional site.

• Presence of narrow or low-clearance passages. • Tour not recommended for pregnant women and claustrophobic individuals. • Route not accessible to people with reduced mobility, strollers, and baby carriers.
• Bring closed-toe shoes as well as warm clothes that can get dirty (temperature between 10 and 12°C).
Self-guided entry to the museum is included in the tour price.
