La Ville celebrates Saint-Pierre, patron saint of fishermen

On July 4, Port des Oursinières hosts the traditional Fête de la Saint-Pierre, a must-attend event of the summer.

Organized in an exceptional setting between the sea and the azure sky, this festive and friendly day honors Mediterranean maritime traditions while offering numerous activities for the whole family. Starting at 4 p.m., residents, summer visitors, and tourists are invited to gather at the port to share a moment of relaxation and discovery to the rhythm of Provençal traditions. In a warm and popular atmosphere, young and old alike will enjoy free water activities offered by La Ville, including paddleboarding sessions supervised by municipal sports instructors.

The festival also begins with various activities and a pétanque competition organized by the Sporting Boulomanes Pradétans. Lovers of regional traditions will witness the spectacular Provençal jousts presented by the Francs Jouteurs de Saint-Mandrier, an event that is always highly appreciated by the public.

A highlight of this day, the Saint-Pierre procession takes place from 6 p.m. along the coastline before the traditional blessing of the boats. This tribute to the patron saint of fishermen perpetuates a maritime heritage deeply rooted in the history of the town and constitutes each year a highlight of contemplation and sharing. As soon as the ceremony ends, the heart of the port comes alive for a great festive evening. Restaurant owners, food trucks, sardinade, and the refreshment stall of the Comité des Fêtes du Pradet offer a gourmet selection allowing everyone to enjoy the event facing the sea. Finally, from 7:30 p.m., the traditional Saint-Pierre baléti will get the public dancing in a festive Provençal atmosphere that will last late into the evening.
