La Caf du Var inaugurated its new headquarters

Inaugurated in the presence of the préfet du Var and local elected officials, this new site in the heart of Toulon aims to improve the quality of service of the Caf.
This is what has guided it in this relocation project since its inception. Initiated in 2020, this project became a reality with the move in March 2025 of 480 out of 550 employees department-wide, grouped within a single headquarters. The building's architecture matches the stakes and reflects the Caf's desire to commit to an eco-responsible approach and integrate new working practices for employees in order to carry out its public service mission under the best conditions.
MODERN ARCHITECTURE
With more than 8,300m² of office space, this Mediterranean eco-sustainable building spans 6 floors. The architecture is designed to be modern and sleek, and the interior layout integrates numerous collaborative spaces. "The goal is to offer a new reception area for our users, better suited to their needs and habits. Beyond separate and modern spaces for appointments and self-service digital access, this new reception makes it possible to offer digital inclusion workshops or focus groups with our beneficiaries and partners to develop our services. The Caf du Var intends to expand its service relationship for a more local and personalized territorial anchoring depending on the public," explains the institution. It adds: "Finally, this relocation occurs in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Sécurité sociale, an opportunity to affirm our values and our purpose focused on protection. Since 1945, the Allocations familiales have been accompanying and supporting populations, evolving their offers and services to meet the needs of their era. In this spirit, the Caf du Var remains close by to adapt to the needs of its audiences."
Thus, it has a telephone call platform that handles phone inquiries for three departments (Var, Alpes-Maritimes, Vaucluse) as well as social and collaborative spaces.
MORE ACCESSIBLE SERVICE
Supported by the mairie de Toulon, which wanted to maintain its presence in the city center, the Caf, an essential player in family services and social policy, has therefore settled in the La Loubière district, offering a more accessible and innovative service. "This choice is not trivial since it aligns with the development policy of the Ville and the Métropole, which wished to develop projects dedicated to service, training, and tertiary activities along the railway station axis. Thus, many public and private institutions have set up on the Chalucet, Montety, Zénith, and Loubière sites. This rapidly developing district is enhanced by a 16,000m² wooded park that opened in September 2022," recalls the Caf.
Finally, it was also about bringing together the 3 sites of the Toulon region (formerly La Rode, La Beaucaire, and La Garde). First of all, from an economic perspective, since the former La Beaucaire site required major renovation work given the dilapidation of one of the buildings.
Indeed, the La Rode headquarters is a high-rise building (Immeuble de Grande Hauteur - IGH) which generates high operating costs and involved major rehabilitation works. The construction of the new building was partly self-financed by the sale of the three sites as well as the premises on rue Racine and Duprat in 2019, in addition to funding allocated by the Caisse nationale.
Furthermore, this headquarters brings teams together, fostering transversality and cohesion. Finally, the building is functional. The old premises were partly unsuited to new ways of working (hybrid, remote, collective, etc.). And the Loubière site promotes the reduction of consumption and, more broadly, the application of the sobriety plan launched in early 2022.
