The Département is strengthening its action in favour of environmental education and citizenship. It took part in the departmental forum of eco-delegates, on 12 June, organised at the prestigious lycée Bonaparte in Toulon by the services of the Éducation nationale.

This event brought together committed students and their reference teachers, from 29 middle schools spread across the entire Var territory.

Placed under the theme "S’engager pour son territoire", this meeting aimed to raise young people's awareness of local environmental, heritage, or societal issues, and to value their role in building the future of their department.

An initiative at the heart of the Var educational project

The Département's participation in this forum was in line with its 2025-2028 educational project. This ambitious roadmap focuses on two fundamental pathways for the development of young Var residents.

The first, focused on the "Connaissance du patrimoine et des territoires varois", aims to anchor middle school students in their local history and geography. The second, centred on "Culture, sport, santé, environnement et citoyenneté", aims to provide them with the keys to becoming enlightened and responsible actors.

These two axes converge towards the same purpose: to enable teenagers to better understand their local environment in order to better invest in its preservation and development. Thus, the forum constituted a platform to embody these objectives and create synergies between institutions and schools.

The "Connais ton territoire" call for projects

On this occasion, the Conseil départemental presented a new incentive scheme: the "Connais ton territoire" call for projects. Designed for middle school students, this mechanism is intended to stimulate and financially support initiatives led by students within their schools.

Whether they are projects for the preservation of biodiversity, the development of a local heritage site, or citizen awareness actions, this call for projects aims to transform ideas into concrete achievements.

The Département intends to strengthen the dynamics of youth engagement and give them the means to act directly on their living environment.
