Duty of remembrance: a bridge between generations
On August 22, the "Gueules Cassées" association commemorated the liberation of Mont Coudon, uniting generations of combatants.
The Union des Blessés de la Face et de la Tête (UBFT), better known as the "Gueules Cassées", organized the ceremony for the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Mont Coudon. The event, at the Domaine des Gueules Cassées, brought together veterans, wounded from contemporary conflicts, families, and younger generations in the presence of civil and military authorities.
A place of remembrance and reconstruction
Every year, the association pays tribute to the soldiers who fell for France and the local resistance fighters who supported this offensive.
Since 1934, the Domaine des Gueules Cassées has been dedicated to welcoming wounded soldiers and their families, offering them a space of rest, brotherhood, and physical and psychological reconstruction.
A living link between eras
More than just looking back at the past, this ceremony embodies the fundamental mission of the "Gueules Cassées": to create a living link between eras.

Around the Domaine's war memorial, veterans of past conflicts will stand alongside soldiers wounded in more recent external operations, their family caregivers, and young citizens.
The association thus intends to make the duty of remembrance a vector of intergenerational transmission, linking those who fought yesterday, those who serve and are physically scarred today, and those who will carry this memory tomorrow.
A vision for the future
This 82nd commemoration was also an opportunity to meet the new president of the UBFT, Jean-Daniel Marquis. Recently elected as head of the "Gueules Cassées", he presented his vision and his projects for the future of this centennial institution, alongside the director general, Olivier Roussel.
