The cadets of the Gendarmerie commit themselves to their elders
The Hyères section of the UNPRG praised the civic and memorial commitment of the young cadets of the Gendarmerie du Var.
During the last meeting of the season, the Hyères section of the Union Nationale des Retraités et des Personnels de la Gendarmerie (UNPRG) welcomed the cadets of the Gendarmerie du Var for a highly meaningful intergenerational meeting.
Chaired by Henri Bannwarth, the association hosted the Service Réserve Jeunesse of the Groupement de Gendarmerie Départementale du Var (GGDD83). The presentation of the cadet program, led by Adjudant Nicolas Moulin, highlighted the involvement of these young volunteers, building a solid bridge between generations.
A program serving memory and values
The Gendarmerie cadets program, run by an association covering the entire Sud region (departments 04, 05, 06, 13, 83, and 84), aims to pass on the values of citizenship, memory, and commitment.
This mission finds a concrete application in Var, where several young male and female cadets perform the duties of flag-bearers with great seriousness during patriotic ceremonies. Trained in this prestigious function, they honorably represent numerous veterans' and memorial associations, such as ACSPMG, Souvenir Français, UNPRG, Médaille Militaire, and AVACM.
Multiple actions on the ground
Beyond their essential role in commemorations, the cadets' commitment is reflected in multiple actions on the ground. They regularly participate, alongside their supervisors, in prevention operations, notably in collaboration with the Maison de la Sécurité Routière du Var (MSR). Their involvement is also shown through solidarity actions, illustrating their desire to serve the population and strengthen social ties. These include the distribution of parcels at the end of the year or, more recently in this month of July, the distribution of refreshing mist sprays to the people most vulnerable to high heat.
The meeting in Hyères was praised by all participants. It allowed the elders of the Gendarmerie to discover and appreciate the vitality of the youth's commitment, ensuring the continuity of the values they hold dear.
