CM2 school children on the Paths of Memory
CM2 students took part in a memorial pathway organized by the Souvenir Français to pass down the history of conflicts.
In May, CM2 school students took part in a memorial pathway organized by the local committee of the Souvenir Français. A civic initiative designed to pass down the history of conflicts and the duty of remembrance to the youngest generations.
For two years, the committee of the Souvenir Français, chaired by Monique Boursin, has been offering this educational activity aimed at raising children's awareness of local and national history, while recalling the importance of collective memory.
A multi-stage pathway
Along the pathway, the students discover the city's various memorial sites: the Monument aux Morts dedicated to the victims of both world wars and the path of remembrance.
This path houses the stele of General Diego Brosset, the Indochina War stele, the AFN stele honoring fighters of the Algerian War, as well as the monument dedicated to soldiers who died for France in external operations.
The children also stop in front of the statue of Joël Sersiron, a young Pradétan killed at the age of 14 by German soldiers after guiding Allied forces during the Provence landing.
An essential transmission
Throughout the visit, the members of the Souvenir Français take the time to explain the history of each stele and the role of the honored figures.
For Monique Boursin, this transmission is essential: “The path of remembrance requires calmness, respect, and silence. We learn there, we reflect, we experience feelings all together.”
Other memorial projects
With this same desire for transmission, the committee also organized visits in 2025 to the Mémorial du Faron and the musée national de la Marine in Toulon.
Among the upcoming projects is a trip to the Camp des Milles memorial site, near Aix-en-Provence, where more than 10,000 people from 38 countries were interned from 1939 onwards, including many Jewish children.
Through these initiatives, the Souvenir Français of Le Pradet intends to continue keeping memory alive among the young generations and recalling the values of freedom and peace inherited from history.
