Pain management: complementary therapies at CHITS
CHITS presented its non-pharmacological approaches during a discovery day on complementary therapies for patients and caregivers.

The fight against pain is not limited to prescribing medication alone. This was the strong message delivered by the Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal Toulon-La Seyne-sur-Mer (CHITS) on September 28, on the occasion of the World Day dedicated to this fight.
At its Sainte-Musse sites in Toulon and George Sand sites in La Seyne-sur-Mer, the institution organized a discovery day for complementary therapies, intended for patients, their loved ones, and caregivers.
This initiative highlights a profound evolution in the concept of care: a global approach where the well-being of body and mind becomes an essential ally of conventional medicine.
A range of care for body and mind
Led by the Comité de Lutte contre la Douleur (CLUD), the day helped bring visibility to often little-known practices. Healthcare professionals from the hospital, trained in these disciplines, led workshops where participants were able to try several non-pharmacological techniques.

The range of approaches offered was wide: sessions of hypnosis, sophrology, massage, reflexology, shiatsu, reiki, and RESC (Résonance Numérique Sous-Cutanée) were provided to demonstrate their soothing potential.
In parallel, a creative workshop led by a psychologist offered a space for expression where drawing and writing became vectors for encouraging dialogue and putting feelings into words.
The hospital emphasizes that these tailored approaches do not replace traditional treatments but complement them, allowing for more refined and personalized care.
The CLUD, a strategic body at the heart of the system
The organization of this event is part of a strategy orchestrated by the institution's Comité de Lutte contre la Douleur (CLUD). The mission of this cross-functional body is to define, propose, and evaluate care protocols to guarantee modern, consistent care focused on patient relief.
By promoting the training of its own staff in these therapies, CHITS is investing in a culture of care that takes into account all dimensions of the person.
This awareness day helped strengthen the dialogue between caregivers and users and reaffirmed that pain management is a priority, addressed with all the resources of science and humanity.
