The second edition of the Rallye des classes défense du Haut-Var, organized in Barjols, brought together 200 young people and many security professionals.

Under an almost summer-like sky, the Barjols stadium was transformed into a crossroads of citizenship and commitment. The event, which was a great success, brought together 200 students from five middle schools and two high schools in the area, who came to discover the diversity of careers related to defence, security, and rescue.

Organized by the collège d’Arbaud de Barjols, in close collaboration with a wide range of institutional, military, and association partners, this day was structured around workshops that were both fun and educational, designed to foster cohesion and team spirit.

A strong mobilization of professionals

The mobilization of security and defence actors was particularly remarkable, offering young people direct and privileged contact with professionals. Throughout the day, students and their supervisors were able to interact at the many stands present.

Among the mobilized partners were the Gendarmerie nationale, the Police nationale, the Douane, the 7ème Régiment d’instruction et d’intervention de la Sécurité Civile (RIISC 7), the sapeurs-pompiers, the Comité Communal Feux de Forêt (CCFF), the Préparation Militaire Marine, the marins-pompiers, soldiers from the camp de Canjuers, and the ONAC VG.

The Centre d’Information et de Recrutement des Forces Armées (CIRFA), the Service de santé des armées de l’hôpital Sainte-Anne de Toulon, and the Centre du service national were also on-site to present their missions, their professions, and the various pathways to these careers.

Values and transmission

Beyond professional discovery, the rally had a strong memorial and civic dimension. Patriotic associations, notably the veterans and Le Souvenir Français, played an essential role in intergenerational transmission. Their presence helped raise awareness among the youngest about the values of commitment, respect for history, and the importance of the duty of remembrance, fundamental pillars of national cohesion.

Each defence group received a certificate of achievement at the end of the session.

The success of this edition bears witness to the growing interest in defence and security classes, an educational initiative that continues to develop to strengthen the link between the army and the nation. Symbolizing this dynamic, the future gendarmerie defence and security class from the collège Henri Matisse de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume participated in the event, taking the opportunity to meet the soldiers of its sponsor unit.

The day took place in the presence of members of the trinôme académique, local elected officials, and representatives of the Conseil départemental du Var, who all praised the quality of the organization and the commitment of the partners. This second edition fully achieved its objectives, in a friendly and unifying atmosphere unanimously praised by participants and organizers.
