A practical learning of democracy
The Conseil de Ville des Jeunes of La Garde presented the results of its mandate during a solemn plenary session.
Civic engagement is cultivated from a very young age in La Garde. Thus, the Conseil de Ville des Jeunes (CVJ) presented its projects during its plenary session at the Gérard Philipe hall, on July 1st.
A solemn meeting that marked the culmination of the mandate of its young members. This event was an opportunity to present the fruit of their reflections and actions carried out throughout the year.
A school of citizenship
Established to introduce the youngest to civic life and the functioning of local institutions, the CVJ is a school of citizenship. It allows children and teenagers of the commune to get involved in the life of their city, propose concrete projects and make their voices heard by adult elected officials.
This plenary session represented the high point of their engagement, a moment during which they presented their work, debated their ideas and shared their vision for the future of La Garde.
Institutional support
The approach is part of the policy led by the Municipality, recognized by the UNICEF label "Ville amie des enfants". This distinction highlights the commitment of the commune to promote children's rights and to make youth participation a priority. The CVJ is one of the most speaking illustrations of this political will.
The importance given to this initiative was underlined by the presence of elected officials from the municipal council. The session was indeed held under the aegis of Hélène Arnaud-Bill, mayor of La Garde and vice-president of the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée (TPM).
Within the municipal Council, it is Jean-Éric Lodevic, deputy delegate for sport, socio-educational leisure, and associative dynamics, who is in charge of the Conseil de Ville des Jeunes. The presence of the Municipality testified to the institutional support given to the CVJ and the attention paid to the proposals of the local youth.
Projects supported by youth
Finally, this meeting was an invitation to discover the projects supported by the young elected officials, which often cover themes that are essential to them such as the environment, solidarity, sports equipment or cultural activities.
For the young councilors, this is the opportunity to develop valuable skills such as public speaking, argumentation and project management. For the residents, it is an opportunity to see the dynamism and relevance of the ideas of the new.
