“Becoming actors in your own safety”: this was the motto of the Forum des risques majeurs organized in the La Favière district.

This event brought together the general public, schoolchildren, and numerous experts for two days of discussions and practical workshops aimed at better preparing residents for emergency situations.

EXPERTS AND PROFESSIONALS

Alongside the mayor and the communal civil safety service, the initiative brought together professionals from all backgrounds to offer a comprehensive overview of the threats and the countermeasures to adopt.

To answer visitors' questions, a panel of speakers was present. The setup included key institutional and voluntary actors such as the Comité Communal Feux de Forêt (CCFF) of Var, the Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM), the Protection civile of Var, the Sapeurs-pompiers of Var, the Office national des forêts, or the Parc national de Port-Cros.

The private sector and specialized organizations were represented with the participation of Krisis conseil, the SCP, Ifforme, Gan Assurances, the association Fredon Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Code83. This diversity made it possible to address risks from multiple angles, from prevention to crisis management, including insurance.

Learning through action

Far from theoretical speeches, the forum emphasized learning through action. The public participated in numerous workshops, demonstrations, quizzes, and games to learn life-saving techniques and the right reflexes.

Among the topics covered: protecting oneself from mosquitoes, reacting during a flood, what measures to take against fires, how to behave during an earthquake, or even using a defibrillator and performing cardiac massage.

Raising awareness among youth and adults

A morning was dedicated to middle school students from the Frédéric Mistral school, illustrating the desire to pass on this culture of risk from a very young age. Storms, fires, floods, but also cybercrime were explained in a fun and interactive way to make a lasting impression.

To open the event, Friday evening offered an original approach with the play “RISKS.COM”, presented at the Amphithéâtre de l’Estelan. This show aimed to raise adults' awareness of industrial risks and natural disasters, using the power of emotion and storytelling for effective awareness.
