A very beautiful 2026 edition of the Fête du Livre
The 12th Fête du Livre of Hyères gathered 150 authors, including J.M.G. Le Clézio, on May 30 and 31.
On May 30 and 31, the city of Hyères organized its twelfth Fête du Livre at the Forum du Casino.
Prestigious guests and highly popular local authors
Among the 150 authors, illustrators, and publishers present, prestigious guests stood out, first and foremost the Nobel Prize in Literature J.M.G. Le Clézio.
Unsurprisingly, Le Clézio was the author who attracted the greatest number of visitors. But local authors such as René Frégni or Karine Giebel also enjoyed great success. At certain times, one had to show patience to reach them at their stand and obtain their signature.
Meeting with a philosopher
Among the authors, the philosopher Philippe Granarolo conversed with his readers and signed his philosophical works and his latest novel: the two volumes of his speculative fiction La grande extinction, "L’ADN du chaos", and "Chroniques du monde d’après".
Appreciated activities and meetings
On Saturday evening, a beautiful event gathered authors, publishers, and organizers at the Club Belambra on the presqu’île de Giens. The festivities continued until a late hour to the great delight of all.
Throughout these two days, fascinating meetings took place in the rooms adjacent to the Forum, gathering a large public. The workshops, led by comic book authors, enjoyed, as they do every year, a great success.
A slight decline in attendance
Even though this twelfth edition attracted a good turnout, it was slightly less crowded than in previous years. The reason for this was the late date of this edition, and a Sunday that coincided with Fête des Mères and with the last RCT match at the stade Mayol!
Something new for the authors' catering
As they do every year, the authors were able to have lunch in restaurants on Saturday. On Sunday, in what constituted a novelty, they were able to do so in the superb Halles of the city, inaugurated last October.
They were also able to choose to eat at one of the many stands offering a very varied selection of dishes. This novelty was highly appreciated.
