François de Canson: “The label enhances our attractiveness”
The 2025 list of winners of the “Villes et Villages Fleuris” label honored 75 municipalities of the Région Sud for their commitment to quality of life.
Quality of life in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur was honored on June 16 at the Hôtel de Région in Marseille. The unveiling ceremony of the 2025 Regional Winners of the “Villes & Villages Fleuris – Qualité de vie” Label brought together more than 200 mayors and elected officials, who came to celebrate the commitment of their municipalities.
The event took place under the aegis of the president of the Région. On this occasion, François de Canson, vice-president of the Région, president of the Comité Régional de Tourisme (CRT) and mayor of La Londe-les-Maures, declared: “75 municipalities were distinguished, rewarded for their constant efforts based on seven strict evaluation criteria, ranging from the quality of the plant heritage to environmental management, as well as the improvement of public space”.
An exemplary label
With 265 certified municipalities from 1 to 4 Fleurs, the region demonstrates its attachment to a carefully maintained and sustainable living environment. From now on, more than 80% of the inhabitants reside in a municipality that holds this label.
The impact of this distinction is far from anecdotal, as revealed by a study conducted jointly by the CRT and the label. According to this survey, 86% of the region's residents judge it “important” to live in a flowered town or village. The label is also a major tourist argument: 30% of visitors state that it has a direct impact on the choice of their place of stay.
To evaluate the candidate municipalities, a regional jury composed of 45 volunteer professionals conducts between 80 and 90 visits each year, from June to September, ensuring a rigorous follow-up every three years.
For François de Canson, this label is an essential tool for local development: “The Quality of Life Label “Villes et Villages Fleuris” enhances the living environment and attractiveness of our municipalities. It embodies good living, highlights our heritage and environment, and rewards a sustainable and responsible development policy. In their municipalities, the mayors and their teams carry out outstanding work in the service of the economic, residential, and tourist attractiveness of our region”.
Confirmed excellence
The list of winners also confirmed the maintenance of the level of many municipalities, proving the durability of their commitment.
Among them, 17 municipalities keep their 3 Fleurs, including Aubagne, Avignon, La Seyne-sur-Mer, Sainte-Maxime, Sisteron, and Toulon. Fifteen municipalities maintain their 2 Fleurs, like Gardanne, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and Le Val. Finally, ten municipalities, including Callian, Les Pennes-Mirabeau, and Le Thoronet, retain their 1 Fleur label.
The new winners
The jury awarded new distinctions to numerous municipalities, thereby hailing their entry or progress in the scheme.
Six municipalities join the prize list by obtaining their first Fleur: Allemagne-en-Provence (04), Aspremont (06), Gattières (06), La Roque-d’Anthéron (13), Pignans (83), and Allauch (13).
Nine municipalities reach the 2 Fleurs level: Bras (83), Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne (84), Cotignac (83), Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue (84), Ilonse (06), La Fare-les-Oliviers (13), Le Muy (83), Oppède (84), and Saint-Paul-en-Forêt (83).
Finally, nine municipalities are promoted to the 3 Fleurs label: Braux (04), Carpentras (84), Guillestre (05), Noves (13), Sausset-les-Pins (13), Savines-le-Lac (05), Théoule-sur-Mer (06), Valensole (04), and Vitrolles (13).
Special awards for nine municipalities
Garéoult (83) for its Parc naturel du Vivier. La Roquebrussanne (83) for the quality of its public spaces. Le Pradet (83) for the remarkable redevelopment of its schoolyards. Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey (06) for its Maison de l’Alimentation et du Développement Durable. Berre-l’Étang (13) for the developments of the Plage du Passet. Blausasc (06) for its quality of life and the promotion of the label. La Farlède (83) for its Parc de l’Abeille et de la Biodiversité. Ollioules (83) for the creation of the Verger des Gorges. Valréas (84) for the diversity and quality of its flowering.
