At Lycée Golf Hôtel, a solidarity dinner puts cooking at the service of inclusion
On March 6, Lycée Golf Hôtel in Hyères hosted the second edition of 'Resto Éphémère', a charity culinary event focused on...

Organized in partnership with the association APIIC (Association pour l'Inclusion et l'Insertion Professionnelle par la Cuisine), this solidarity dinner brought together final-year Bac professionnel culinary apprentices and young adults with disabilities (autism and Down syndrome), accompanied by dedicated volunteers.

Nearly 130 guests responded to the invitation, demonstrating public interest in this solidarity initiative. HUMAN EXPERIENCE On the menu for this convivial evening was a true culinary journey with oriental flavors.
Guests were able to enjoy specialties revisited by the apprentice cooks. The evening was also punctuated by surprise entertainment, including magic tricks and a fashion show. A big bravo to Mélina, a young autistic girl passionate about sewing, who organized a fashion show presenting her creations with the participation of young people from the association APIIC.
Beyond gastronomy, this project carries a deeply social ambition, as it aims to raise awareness among future catering professionals about the inclusion of people with disabilities in the world of work.

By working together in a kitchen brigade, apprentices and young adults learn to get to know each other, cooperate, and value their respective skills. An experience that demonstrates that everyone can find their place in the kitchen, regardless of their background or differences. SOCIAL INTEGRATION Laurent Ferry, a teacher at Lycée du Golf Hôtel, who spearheads this initiative with his friend Bertrand Mora from the association APIIC, reflects on this project: "This project, entitled Resto Éphémère, is carried out in partnership with the association APIIC, whose mission is to promote the social and professional integration of people with disabilities through the implementation of individual projects, notably through learning to cook.
This innovative partnership aims to have young adults with disabilities—affected by autism or Down syndrome—work alongside apprentice cooks from the dedicated class (TPHC APP). This initiative, on the one hand, helps raise awareness among our learners regarding the integration and inclusion of people with disabilities in the professional world, demystifying the perception of these disabilities. On the other hand, it encourages these future chefs or employers to collaborate with this specific audience, who are often looking for employment.
Finally, this project aims to demonstrate the employability of these young people by highlighting their know-how and skills." Thus, several meetings were organized to refine recipes and build solid teams, composed of two apprentices, one youth with a disability, and an accompanying volunteer.
Patrice Mascarte, headmaster of Lycée professionnel Golf Hôtel, specifies: "This project is part of the chef-d'œuvre, carried out over two years, with the production and marketing of two charity dinners for the benefit of the association APIIC.
The first dinner, organized in June 2023, brought together 110 guests and generated a profit of €2,000. This second edition, with 126 guests, also raised €2,500 to support the association's activities. This type of collaboration is beneficial for all actors involved: for the apprentices, it represents an opportunity for professional improvement and the development of transmission skills with a specific audience, while participating in a solidarity event; for the association, it helps fund the culinary workshops organized on a voluntary basis throughout the year."
