In Gonfaron, Var, Var Habitat and the municipality are inaugurating a medical center to strengthen access to local healthcare. In a context where access to healthcare is becoming a major challenge for many territories, the municipality of Gonfaron is preparing to take a decisive step. On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11 a.m., the new medical center 'Patrick PLY', a highly anticipated facility for the local population, will be officially inaugurated. The ceremony will take place at 16 rue Henri Barbusse, in the presence of Thierry Bongiorno, mayor of Gonfaron and 1st Vice-President of the Communauté de Communes Cœur du Var, and of Thierry Albertini, president of Var Habitat and Vice-President of the Conseil Départemental du Var.
This project, led and completed by the public office Var Habitat in close collaboration with the municipality, aims to sustainably strengthen healthcare services in the heart of the municipality. It responds to a core concern: ensuring simpler, faster, and sustainable access to care for residents, by actively combating the difficulties of accessing practitioners in rural areas.
A modern and accessible facility for all
The new medical center spans an area of 150 m² and has been designed to offer optimal welcoming conditions for both patients and healthcare professionals. The building is designed to accommodate five doctors, providing them with a modern, functional, and collaborative work environment. This aspect is crucial for attracting and retaining practitioners in the area.
Located in the heart of the town center, it complements the existing medical center, creating synergy and a true centralized health hub. Special attention has been paid to universal accessibility. All installations comply with standards for people with disabilities, affirming the commitment to offer equitable access to care for all citizens.
A strategic investment for the territory's attractiveness
The construction of this health center represents an investment of €583,158, entirely funded by Var Habitat. This financial effort goes beyond a simple construction; it is a strategic investment for the vitality and attractiveness of Gonfaron. By reinforcing essential services, this type of project reassures residents, attracts new families, and indirectly supports the local economy.
With this inauguration, Var Habitat reaffirms its commitment alongside the local authorities of Var. As the organization highlights, its action aims to 'develop useful everyday facilities, support the attractiveness of town centers, and tangibly support the quality of life of residents'.
The collaboration with the municipality of Gonfaron illustrates a development model where the social housing provider acts as an essential partner in local public policies.
